Soccer goalie or volleyball player?

Ok, so the other day I crossed over to "the other side." A friend of mine here needed a goalie for a soccer tournament that she was scheduled to be in. I thought, "Well, this volleyball player does know how to block a ball, so it shouldn't be too bad at all." We never practiced. I've never ever been a goalie. When we reached the tournament, I found a rule book just to have some knowledge of what I could or could not do. Needless to say, it didn't help be as a goalie really (there were only about 10 rules written in the book). That's ok though, I was excited. I have played soccer before - just for fun - but this place had a nice set up. The first of my new experiences, other than putting on a goalie jersey (which I later had to switch because a person just cannot wear long sleeves in this climate) was to put on shin guards. I've been kicked in the shins enough to know that this was a good thing. I managed to get them and the socks on, the whole time thinking about Michelle and other TFC friends that would be laughing hysterically at my. Soon after that feat, they called all the girls' teams together for a special presentation by the Prime Minister of Penang. He decided to pick 3 goalies to shoot against. Guess who attempted to block her very first shot on goal, shot by the big important guy - yep, you guessed it, that was me! I laughed at myself and at the fact that every move was caught on film by most of the newspapers and other media sources in the area! Great day! Oh well, we ended up doing pretty well and I finally got the hang of being goalie. Though I wouldn't convert from my first love, volleyball, I would definitely do it again :)
